On Friday, Leicester City secured their promotion to the Premier League as Leeds United suffered an unexpected 4-0 loss against Queens Park Rangers. This puts Leicester at the top of the Championship with a total of 94 points and two games remaining while Leeds remains second place, having only one match left but still holding onto 90 points. Meanwhile, Ipswich Town is in third place with three matches yet to play and currently has 89 points which means they have a chance to overtake Leeds for automatic promotion. "We need to be honest; it's not within our control anymore," commented Daniel Farke - boss of the defeated team - during his interview with BBC.

If Ipswich emerges victorious in the next couple of games, I'll extend my congratulations. Nevertheless, we cannot relent even if that does not happen because there's much at stake versus Southampton on the last day of play.

"I won't give up while there's still a chance."

Enzo Maresca's team, the Foxes, earned promotion in their first attempt after being relegated from the Premier League last season.

The last couple of matches for them consist of an away game at Preston on Monday, followed by a home closing fixture against Blackburn on May 4.

If Ipswich defeats Hull on Saturday or Coventry in their game assigned next Tuesday, Leeds will be placed below the top two.

If Ipswich manages to win both, they will secure promotion whereas Leeds would have to participate in the play-offs.

Farke extended his congratulations to both QPR and Leicester.

"We failed to execute the fundamentals in the initial 20 minutes, allowing QPR to take advantage and secure a 2-0 lead."

In the year 2016, Leicester unexpectedly became Premier League champions; however, they were relegated alongside Leeds and Southampton in the past season.

In February, the Foxes had a comfortable lead of 12 points at the top and an ample cushion of 14 points to third place as they aimed for promotion.

After enduring six defeats in their last 11 games, they went up against Southampton on Tuesday as they both vied for promotion.

Thanks to a hat-trick by Issahaky Fatawu and goals from Wilfred Ndidi and veteran striker Jamie Vardy, they dominated the Saints with an impressive 5-0 win.

Their near-perfect win has brought them to the cusp of getting back in Premier League.

The promotion celebration will be slightly subdued as they were accused by the Premier League in March for purported violations of profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) pertaining to their previous three years in the premier division.

Leicester might have to begin their comeback in the premier league with a reduction of points if proven guilty.

QPR secured their place in England's second-tier with a well-deserved victory over Leeds, thanks to goals scored by Ilias Chair, Lucas Andersen, Lyndon Dykes and Sam Field.

In October, Marti Cifuentes assumed the position previously held by Gareth Ainsworth as QPR languished in second-to-last place within the Championship.

Cifuentes exclaimed that the evening was superb, and they had put in a lot of effort to achieve such an excellent performance.

Mentally resilient throughout, we as a club faced an immense challenge. Yet, united and steadfast, we pushed forward in unison.

"It brings me immense joy to see the players, fans and club succeed despite facing a challenging task. We have successfully accomplished our great escape."
